Quilt complete: A fat quarter project from Miss Rosie's Farmhouse Favorites

Hello quilting friends. I’m popping in today to share photos of my completed “Wayne & Gordie” quilt from the book “Miss Rosie’s Farmhouse Favorites” by Carrie Nelson. The fabrics, the pattern, the quilting, the backing . . . is it okay to say I love everything about this quilt?

I finished this pretty quilt top in April and sent it off to Farm Fresh Stitches for machine quilting. As usual, Jennifer did a fabulous job, finishing my quilt with a lovely, swirly pattern called Whisper. By adding softness to the angles, it’s the perfect complement to a quilt that has a geometric layout. Thank you, Jennifer, for helping me choose just the right finishing touch!

When I receive my quilts back from Farm Fresh Stitches, it’s a bit like Christmas morning. Jennifer packages them in such a lovely way that I almost don’t want to untie the wrappings! Almost!

My Wayne & Gordie quilt is made up of fat quarters I had collected for about a year.  I think there are five, maybe six, different Moda collections represented in this quilt.  For more details, please visit my April blog post.

As I mentioned in April, I planned to use a creamy floral print for the backing, but I didn’t have enough fabric. So, I stitched together some left-overs from the quilt top to create a pieced band the width of the quilt. When I joined that band with the cream fabric, I had just enough to back the quilt.

Don’t you love how this turned out?  I have so many scraps in my stash. I really should do this more often. It’s economical and oh so pretty!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope this quilt has inspired you to break into some fat quarters you’ve been hoarding, and also to use up your treasured scraps for a pieced backing.  Have fun and get carried away!
