Tablerunner Bliss Quilt Along: Medallion Tablerunner

Hello quilting friends! Today is my turn on the Tablerunner Bliss Quilt Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop. I was thrilled to be asked to make a tablerunner from Sherri Falls’ fabulous new book, Tablerunner Bliss. I'm a longtime fan of Sherri’s patterns, as she has a wonderful way of mixing traditional blocks with a modern flair.

Tablerunner Bliss includes 20 beautiful projects for every season. I chose Sherri’s “Medallion” pattern, which is a fat eighth friendly pattern.  For the blocks, I used the gorgeous new autumn line by Fig Tree & Company: Hazel & Plum.  I also mixed in some older Fig Tree collections from my stash for border, background and binding.  Hazel & Plum ships to stores the end of October, and Fat Quarter Shop will be carrying the entire line!

I absolutely love my finished "Medallion" tablerunner.  Both the design and the color scheme are very “me." Measuring at 20 1/2" x 46 1/2", the runner fits perfectly on this old desk my mom gave me years ago.

It’s autumn in Minnesota, which means snow and bitter cold are just around the corner.  When you have a balmy, beautiful Saturday morning in the fall, you need to spend all of your time outdoors, including doing your quilt photography!

I machine quilted my runner with straight-line quilting using my walking foot on my Bernina. I simply followed the natural design of the blocks, using 1/8", 1/4" or 1/2" spacing, whatever looked the most pleasing to my eye.  I selected a beautiful shade of Aurifil 50wt for my quilting: 2326 (sand). This soft tan color is a wonderful compliment to Fig Tree fabrics!

Published by It’s Sew Emma, Tablerunner Bliss is filled with lovely, inspiring photographs. I’m sure this is a book you’ll want to add to your quilting library.

Several other bloggers are sharing their pretty makes from the book.  Here is the Tablerunner Bliss Quilt Along schedule with links to all the makers:

  1. You are right.....it looks so much like you that I thought it was a new pattern of yours! I also love Sherri's patterns, so no wonder this is a must make for me! That shade of Aurifil you used for the quilting is one I don't have yet, so will have to pick some of that up. It does look great on the fig tree fabrics. Thanks for a wonderful post on this lovely table runner. I've really enjoyed seeing them all and need to order that book ASAP!
